Breastfeeding and Mental Health: Beyond Milk

When we think of breastfeeding, we often imagine a moment of connection, calm, and love… But What happens when it doesn’t feel that way? Or at least not always .

Breastfeeding is not just feeding, it is an intense and deep emotional journey. The postpartum period for some mothers can be a very vulnerable time, with a lot of introspection and profound changes. Joy is not always the main emotion, sadness, tiredness, fears can also appear, and this is also normal.

Breastfeeding may not always be easy to start or always be pleasurable, and that does not make you any less of a mother.

Every breastfeeding experience is unique. Every choice is perfect. Try not to compare yourself, push yourself, or judge yourself.

If you need help, ask for it.
If you need to stop, allow yourself.
If you enjoy it, celebrate it.

How has your experience with breastfeeding been? We read you in comments.
